On November 25-26, 2022, the XIV International Poznan Course in Upper Extremity Surgery - forearm, wrist and hand, took place in Poznań. Thanks to the invitation and courtesy of the organizers, Prof. Leszek Romanowski and Dr Piotr Czarnecki, a scientific session was organized during this event under the patronage of the Polish Orthoplastic Society. POS was represented by Dr Kaja Giżowska - Kacprzak, Dr Ireneusz Walaszek, Dr Adam Domanasiewicz, and Dr Bartosz Mańkowski. Prof. Steven Hovius participated in session. The session blended in with the educational nature of the course and was divided into two parts. The first presents the possibilities of reconstruction of bone and soft tissue defects of the upper limb, including simple as well as advanced surgical techniques, including reconstructive microsurgery procedures. Flap techniques, skin grafts and indications for reconstructive treatment were discussed. POS is also interested in the problems of damage and defects of the lower limb, therefore a wide spectrum of reconstruction possibilities within the lower limb was presented. The second part of the session was entitled "my nightmare case". The concept was to present extremely difficult cases and complications, at the same time presenting the plan and implementation of dealing with complications. The idea of the session proposed by the POS the XIV International Poznan Course in Upper Extremity Surgery was to highlight many useful solutions to clinical problems that could be every orthopedic surgeon's nightmare. The session met with great interest of the course participants.
